About Our Prescription Motorcycle Lenses
Lens Design: The latest Free-Form Digital designs by Shamir compensate for the wrap or curve of motorcycle sunglasses. You will have a much larger 'sweet spot' than you are used to, and the curve compensation eliminates peripheral distortions commonly associated with putting a prescription in a wrapped frame. Your lenses can be clear, tinted, polarized, or even transitions that darken with the presence of sunlight (Transitions will not darken behind a helmet shield.)
Lens Materials: There are only two materials we will use when making lenses for prescription motorcycle glasses; they are polycarbonate and Trivex. Both are shatterproof and will prevent any rocks or june bugs from flying straight through your lenses when you are at a high speed. Trivex is the military's upgraded version of polycarbonate. It provides better optics and better durability. Both of these materials block 100% of harmful UV light naturally, even if they are untinted clear lenses. The clips below show how these two materials hold up when a 500 gram (about 1 pound) steel missle is fired directly into them.
Polycarbonate - Unbreakable but damaged. Trivex - Unbreakable, much less damage.
Why we like motorcycle glasses with padded eye seals.A motorcyclist will encounter countless weather and riding conditions if they are getting good use out of their bike. Long highway rides and extended exposure to swirling wind will dry your eyes out and cause discomfort that might make you feel like pulling over for a bit. An eye seal will block the wind and discomfort, allowing you to stay on the bike longer. The eye seal is also great at keeping rain, dust, or other swirling debris from getting into your eyes. The best part about the seals is that they are removable, so if you just need to ride around town at low speeds or want to wear your sunglasses casually or in the car you can take it out easily.
