Rec Specs Sizing Information

Selecting the Correct Size for Your Rec Specs Safety Glasses:

The information below is intended to help you select the perfect pair of Rec Specs glasses for you sporting activity.  Many models are available in more than one size.  This sizing information will help you determine which safety glasses will fit your face.  If you are not certain of the glasses that will work for you we recommend our Try Before You Buy program.  This allows you to try on several glasses Lens-Measurements_Definedbefore you get charged for a prescription lens.

Rec Specs is the only company we have ever heard of that lists their frame sizes by the width (A Measurement) of the lens instead of the eye size (Effective Diameter).  This makes it harder to compare the glasses you wear everyday to Rec Specs sizes.  But since there will be more curve in the Rec Specs frames this may be a good thing.  If you add the DBL Measurement (Distance Between Lenses, or "Bridge") to the A Measurement twice you will know exactly how far it is from the outside of one lens to the other.  This measurement should be about the width of your head from temple to temple. (Measured in a straight line, not all the way around your head.  You might determine this by measuring how far apart the temple pieces are on your glasses and subtracting the space between you head and the temple.)

Eyewear measurements are always in millimeters, and one inch equals 25mm.

Sizing Example: (This rule-of-thumb applies to most people.)

The first eyewear size shown below has an A Measurement of 48 and a DBL of 17.  Therefore we know that the lenses cover a span of 113mm.  If your head is about 110mm to 125mm wide at the temple these glasses should be a great fit.
